Job Summary

PIC Group is seeking a skilled Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician to support a natural gas-fired LM6000 peaker plant in Sylacauga, AL. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Working primarily outside the control room, the O&M Technician plays a key role in plant performance, safety, and reliability, ensuring that all activities comply with environmental and safety regulations.

Key Project Requirements

•

Experience with LM6000 gas turbines highly preferred; other combustion turbine experience considered

•

Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with plant operations and maintenance practices.

•

Experience with operating GE control systems, such as Mark VIe, preferred

•

Working knowledge of water treatment systems, including cooling towers and demineralizers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

•

Operate and monitor plant equipment, including balance of plant and auxiliary systems, outside the control room.

•

Execute safe start-up, normal operations, and shutdown procedures per established protocols

•

Record and monitor operating parameters, responding to trends or abnormal conditions.

•

Support Control Room Operators by communicating field conditions and performing field operations as needed.

•

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks as assigned.

•

Accurately document maintenance and operational activities using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Job Requirements

•

Proven experience in power plant operations and equipment maintenance.

•

Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems within a generation facility.

•

Familiarity with plant isolation, lockout/tagout procedures, and general safety protocols.

•

Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation, plant procedures, and O&M agreements.

•

Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

•

Ability to walk, climb, stoop, and lift up to 75 lbs.

•

Must be capable of operating forklifts, man lifts, and boom trucks as needed.

Education / Experience

•

A high school diploma or GED is required.

•

3+ years of experience as an Operations & Maintenance Technician or equivalent role in a power plant or related industry
