Operations and Maintenance (O&M) / IC&E Technician

The Tejas Energy Center is a 247 MW simple-cycle gas-fired electric generating facility. It features three Simple Cycle LM6000 PC units totaling approximately 126 MW. Additionally, it has a Siemens 501 D5 gas turbine with a total capacity of 121 MW, equipped with automatic generation control (AGC), evaporative cooling, water injection for NOx control, and a selective catalytic reduction unit. Utilizing the Allen-Bradley PLC series of controllers, the plant plays a critical role in supporting peak energy demands within the Houston Zone of ERCOT.

Opportunity Summary

The Operations and Maintenance (O&M)/IC&E Technician position offers an opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of turbine generators, with a focus on LM6000 turbines and their associated systems. The role requires expertise in troubleshooting turbine control systems, operating advanced instrumentation tools, and maintaining electrical systems up to 480V.

Successful candidates will have a strong foundation in preventive maintenance, reading and interpreting complex diagrams (P&IDs, PLCs, etc.), and ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols. Primary Duties

Your scope of responsibility as O&M/IC&E Technician will include the following primary functions:

NAES Safe

Working Relationships

The O&M Technician reports to the Plant Manager and coordinates will all other plant personnel.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

Fitness for Duty

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.

Work Schedule

Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.

Compensation

The initial starting compensation will range from $50.00 to $53.90 per hour and will include an annual performance bonus.
