Power Trader

A key Optimus client is looking for a Power Trader with NYISO experience to play a critical role in managing and optimizing energy generation and load asset portfolios in both bilateral and RTO markets. This role will focus on developing short-term trading strategies, including submitting generation offers, placing load bids, executing bilateral transactions, and managing transmission/congestion products for both client-based and proprietary positions.

The Power Trader will collaborate closely with dispatch teams, planning coordinators, and internal stakeholders to ensure economically sound decisions for real-time unit issues and intra-day planning. This is a dynamic opportunity for a trader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to make an impact in the energy market.

📍 Location: This role is based in Florida. Candidates must be willing to work from Florida or the Northeast office.

Qualifications:

✔ 5+ years of experience in the energy industry, specifically in power trading or a related trading floor function.

✔ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; an MBA or an advanced degree is a plus.

✔ NYISO market experience is required; additional experience in other Northeast ISO markets is a bonus.

✔ Experience with financial energy products is preferred.

✔ Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); programming skills in Visual Basic or Python are highly desirable.

Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):

✅ NERC Certification

✅ National Futures Association Series 3 Certification

✅ Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Designation
