Responsibilities
•Perform Quality Assurance on production floor with respect to CTQ’s, SMI and customer procedures, special production processes and document control
•Support inspection of incoming parts and process control of incoming/outgoing product
•Oversee and approve inspections of WIP at various stages and finished product to ensure conformance with job orders and diagrammatic specifications
•Verity that all quality measuring instruments/devices are calibrated and up to date
•Perform first article, in-process and final inspection
•Inspect and know tolerance for fitting and pipe fitting
•Assure correct adherence to welding codes and test welders
•Support and continuously improves the SMI WPS’s, work on resolving any issues with procedures or welders
•Assist with the maintenance of the SMI Nonconformance Catalogue and its application
•Examines product for visual appearance and conformance and approve inspections of WIP and finished product
•Identifies parts for acceptance or rejection, and completes respective paperwork
•Makes suggestions to changes for process enhancements or cost savings
•Documents and reports inspection results
•Monitor application of customer specs or internal defined processes necessary to fulfill CTQ’s from customers
•Monitor correct application of all internal inspection documents in a timely manner
•Monitor document control with respect to production drawings and customer specs
•Support and verify the application of the SMI Quality System as outlined in the QSM, WI’s, QMP’s and SOP’s on the manufacturing floor by doing random audits
•Participate and support in internal auditing of processes and practices
•Test welders and fitters as appropriate and/or assigned
Schedule:
•10-hour or 8-hour shifts
•Day Shift (possible 2nd shift in the future)
•Some weekend if required to meet schedule, overtime announced the Wednesday prior.

Required knowledge:
· 1+ year experience with Inspection practices required
· Knowledge of operating principles and techniques of manufacturing/machining processes
· Ability to identify weld defects and how to correct them required
· Understanding of weld consumables
· Experience with welding preferred
· Knowledge of tolerance for pipe fitting
· Knowledge of the principles and techniques of quality management systems
· Proficient in reading and interpreting customer drawings/specifications requirements including geometric tolerances
· General knowledge of AWS and ASME quality systems
· Skill in basic auditing techniques
· Good verbal, written and oral communication skills
· Proficient in basic computer applications
· Self-motivator, able to work unsupervised
· Willingness to be flexible with job duties to meet plant and customer requirements (If you’ve been in this business a while, you know that the customer rules, so sometimes we have to be flexible!)
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb steps, lift 50 pounds or push/pull 100 pounds following safety procedures & use a ladder following safety procedures.
