As a Safety Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees within our organization. Your primary duties will involve coordinating regulatory programs, conducting audits, obtaining permits, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, IOSHA, DOT, EPA, and local Fire Marshal standards. You will support the development and coordination of all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) related programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
General Duties and Responsibilities:
•Operate within, and live by, the Code of Conduct for Tredegar and Bonnell Aluminum Companies
•Communicate verbally and in written text with Managers, Supervisors, and Employees
•Emergency Response Coordination and Emergency Preparedness.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
•Assist with Workers Comp Claims Management. Reviews injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
•Active participation in the safety committee and provide daily guidance and direction with EHS programs to re-enforce safety policies, guidelines and procedures established by the Company.
•Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analyses, accident, near miss, investigations and corrective actions.
•Conduct Safety Orientations for new employees and track employee safety training.
•Ensure all hazardous materials, universal, non-hazardous and medical waste are handled, labeled and/or shipped in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
•Arrange for the purchase and distribution of personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and prescriptive eyewear.
•Manage Safety Data Sheet record keeping and updating the log.
Knowledge/ Competencies:
•Strong computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint, Creating Graphs, Researching Data)
•Able to deliver results and strive for continuous improvement and Problem solving/ Analysis
•Able to work flexible hours including overtime/ weekends
•Bilingual in English/ Spanish is a plus
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This position may occasionally require visits to the plant and exposure to shop elements such as noise; moving parts, handling of aluminum extruded parts, dust and fumes.
Physical Demands:
This position will frequently require the following:
•Involves frequent walking and standing within the plant facility
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience:
•High School Diploma or equivalent is required, college degree is preferred
•Prior work experience and knowledge related to occupational health, safety, or environmental practices are preferred.
