Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Description

Under general supervision, facilitates a variety of complex engineering projects including data collection and monitoring, maintenance, surveillance activities, and others as needed to support operations at an assigned site.

•

Manage the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of field instrumentation and monitoring equipment.

•

Manage data and assist with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals.

•

Utilize computer programs to solve engineering problems and maintain proper documentation.

•

Oversee acquisition of automated and manual field instrumentation and survey data.

•

Perform technical evaluation of equipment, troubleshoot and perform maintenance of installed instrumentation

•

Maintain accurate and current project documentation.

•

Manage survey and mapping projects (with GPS, total station, drone).

•

Provide training and guidance to technicians and engineers on the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment.

•

May work with vendors and contractors in the support of data collection and interpretation of data

•

Provide backup support for Engineers in analysis and processes as required

•

Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

•

Five (5) years of experience in an engineering or technical area relevant to the assignment.

•

Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

•

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

•

Ability to develop good working relationships within own team and folks from various other departments.

•

Skilled in safely using, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

•

High School diploma or GED

•

One year experience in the mining industry

•

Aptitude for computers and/or electronics

•

Experience with vibrating wire piezometers

•

Knowledge of specialized equipment, methods, and techniques appropriate to assignment, including CAD, GIS/GPS mapping techniques

•

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

•

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

•

Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

•

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

•

Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

•

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

•

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday

•

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently

$27.00 - $37.00/hour.

This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
