General Purpose
The service writer acts as a liaison between our customers and our service team, by keeping the service process moving along and flowing with streamlined communication. They are responsible for understanding customer needs and communicating them to the service department using various methods of communication. They are also responsible for handling our customers with care and consideration while setting realistic expectations of costs, time estimates and warranties.
Summary
We are seeking a Service Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be the vital link between our customers and the automotive technicians, ensuring that all service requests are handled efficiently and effectively. Your contributions will directly impact customer satisfaction and the overall success of our operations.
Responsibilities
•Greet customers and assess their automotive service needs.
•Prepare detailed service estimates and communicate them to customers clearly.
•Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely completion of services.
•Upsell additional services based on customer needs and vehicle condition.
•Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions.
•Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns.
•Meeting with customers to discuss their needs
•Creating price estimates and time needed for repairs
•Scheduling service to specific jobs
•Communicating the needs of customers to your service technicians
•Entering Work Order details into your dealership’s management system
•Communicating information regarding parts, Work Orders, costs, warranties, time, etc.
•Communicating Work Order statuses to customers and relaying any additional work needed and associated costs
•Tracking repairs and problem causes
•Tracking and processing customer warranties and insurance
•Adhere to and enforce all safety standards
•Maintain organized and clean location
•Participate in and promote the safety culture
•Other duties as assigned
Requirements
•Experience in sales or customer service
•Computer literacy and an understanding of industry software
•Basic understanding of accounting and electronic payment systems
•People skills including conflict resolution, problem solving and listening
•Ability to work in a team environment
•Effective verbal communication skills
•Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
•Follow instructions given both orally or in writing
•Ability to work independently, with accuracy and in accordance with company safety and quality standards
•Ability to communicate in English with other employees for the purpose of hazard recognition, problem solving, or other purposes
•Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
