THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION. Will need to be able to train on 1st shift and move to 2nd when fully trained. 1st shift is 5 am to 4 pm, Mon - Friday.
Summary:
•Quality Control Inspector to perform inspection consisting of examinations, observations and measurements to determine the conformance of materials and components to documented drawings, procedures, specifications and codes. The final Inspector is responsible for 100% appearance and size inspection of all members requiring inspection under the SS&E Inspection Sampling Plan, prior to shipping
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned
•Responsible for in-process inspection
•The degree and amount of inspection to be performed will be determined from the project specifications and applicable codes.
•Perform the final inspection of the required pieces as specified by the SS&E Inspection Sampling Plan. This shall be performed after the fabricating welding, and coating has been completed, but prior to it being shipped.
•Verify that in-process inspection was performed on the designated pieces
•Inspection is made with respect to shop drawings and includes material size, burn quality, weld appearance, straightness, surface preparation, coating and coating thickness, proper identification and compliance with procedures, specifications and codes
•Record results on the Set 2 drawings.
•Follow the Control of Nonconforming Product procedure for all non-conformance issues
•Those persons performing the inspection requirements are under the direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager or designee
•Performs testing of bolting assemblies with Skidmore and records results.

•Will at a minimum be familiar with have a minimum of one-year experience in a structural steel fabrication or similar construction environment
•Must be familiar with shop fabrication techniques and methodology for which they are inspecting
•Must be familiar with SS&E work instructions associated with plant operations for which they are inspecting
•Must be able to read and understand shop drawings, examine materials to ensure that it conforms to drawings, specifications and codes
•If inspecting welds, they must be familiar with welding symbols, procedures, processes and be able to perform visual inspections per the latest edition of the Structural Welding Code AWS D1.1
•If they are inspecting bolted joints, they must be familiar with and be able to perform inspections per the latest edition of Specification for Structural Joints Using ASTM A325 or A490 Bolts
•If they are inspecting surface preparation or coating applications, they must be familiar with and inspect the quality of structural steel cleaning, surface preparation and be able to measure applied coating thicknesses
•Will have a minimum of two-years’ experience in structural steel fabrication or a similar construction environment
•Must be familiar with shop fabrication techniques and methodology
•Must be familiar with SS&E work instructions associated with plant operations.
•Must be able to read and understand shop drawings, examine materials to ensure that it conforms to drawings, specifications and codes.
