Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Automation Engineer to oversee, optimize, and enhance the automation systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems to improve the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will directly impact the operations.
Key Responsibilities:
•System Design & Implementation: Develop, design, and deploy automated control systems for processes, including PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI interfaces.
•Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve automation-related issues in the steel mill’s production lines and equipment to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
•Process Optimization: Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and implement process improvements through automation, including data collection, process control, and performance analysis.
•Software & Hardware Integration: Work with various control systems, sensors, and actuators to ensure seamless integration with existing manufacturing technologies.
•Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all automation systems comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and best practices for operating within a steel mill environment.
•Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation of automation processes, software programs, electrical schematics, and system specifications.
•Training & Support: Provide training to operators and maintenance staff on automation systems and offer ongoing technical support to ensure smooth operation.
Qualifications:
•Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
•Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in automation engineering, preferably within a steel mill or manufacturing environment.
•Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.), SCADA, DCS, HMI systems, and other automation tools.
•Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
•Strong knowledge of process control, electrical circuits, instrumentation, and automation hardware.
•Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, IEC).
•Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a proactive approach to resolving automation-related issues.
•Team Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and maintenance staff.
•Other: Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in the steel, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sectors.
•Familiarity with condition monitoring and predictive maintenance systems.
•Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts and digital transformation in manufacturing.
•Experience with programming languages such as Python or C++ is a plus.
