Braun Intertec is seeking a Building Science Estimator-Consultant to join our Minneapolis Metro office. Specific knowledge that will serve as a strong foundation to this role includes; Building systems, waterproofing, windows/curtainwall, exterior façade materials, roofing, masonry, mechanical systems, and electrical systems. A broad range of experience is desired, as the individual will be dealing with a variety of diverse construction types and services.
Responsibilities:
•Develop project cost estimates, write proposals and coordinate contract execution with clients. This also may include managing projects internally to completion to include following up with other staff on project deliverables, assist with progress invoicing and close-out of the project. Will include the work performed is in compliance with those proposals.
•Ability to provide project management assistance, giving work direction
•Coordinate estimates, manage proposals workload, provide proposal review and coaching of junior staff
•Assist with proposal negotiations and client follow up
•Update Bid calendar, scheduling and coordinating estimate due dates
•Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings as needed
•This position may include assisting with performing third party review of construction documents and specifications for Building envelope components, specifically as it relates to the Energy Code (ASHRAE 90.1)
•This position may also include assisting with other site observations and documentation to assist with consultants and engineers.
Required Experience and Skills:
•Minimum of 10+ years of experiences in the architectural/engineering/construction profession.
•Degree from an accredited college, or equivalent education and experience in related architectural/engineering/construction industry.
•Well versed in project specifications and In depth understanding of construction drawings
•Preferred skill in dealing with issues related to Building Sciences and Building Construction. Experience in the detailing, construction and/or construction administration phases of a Building project is very important.
•Good knowledge of Building Codes, Energy Codes and the different versions of the various codes
•Estimating and project management/coordination experience preferred
•Experience with market trends, pricing strategy, and client expectations preferred
•Ability to supervise and manage small projects
•Excellent written and verbal skills are required to describe observations, testing, and conclusions based upon the building codes, industry standards, and professional experience. Candidate should be confident and knowledgeable to be able to support conclusions developed.
•Computer proficiency in Microsoft products and strong math aptitude
•Must have a valid driver’s licenses, clean driving history
•The employee will need to have the ability to walk through a project or jobsite, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, carry, touch and climb. This can be in a combination of tightly enclosed areas, or on ladders, lifts and scaffolding. At times the job can be physically demanding and involves interior and exterior work in all weather conditions.
•Available for occasional travel.

Compensation Range:
$77,400.00 - $116,000.00
