Civil Superintendent

Saber Power Services, LLC, (SPS) located in Houston, TX is a nationally recognized full service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure in North America.

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Superintendent with a strong background in high-voltage substation construction to oversee and coordinate all civil aspects of our substation projects. This role requires experience managing crews, subcontractors, and civil scopes including site grading, concrete foundations, trenching, duct banks, and structural steel for utility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

•

Supervise and coordinate all civil construction activities at substation sites, ensuring adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.

•

Oversee site preparation, excavation, concrete foundations (transformer pads, control buildings, equipment pads), grounding grids, duct banks, and other substation civil components.

•

Manage daily activities of craft workers, equipment operators, and subcontractors.

•

Work closely with Project Managers, Electrical Superintendents, Engineers, and client representatives to ensure project milestones are met.

•

Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce site safety policies in compliance with OSHA and company requirements.

•

Maintain detailed daily reports, track progress, and manage field documentation (RFIs, redlines, as-builts).

•

Ensure work complies with design documents, specifications, and applicable codes.

•

Coordinate inspections and testing related to civil scopes (concrete, compaction, etc.).

•

Support scheduling, look-ahead planning, and material tracking.

•

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•

5 years of civil construction experience with at least 2+ years in a superintendent or lead role on substation or utility-scale projects.

•

Strong understanding of civil construction techniques, especially within energized environments or utility substations.

•

Proven experience with concrete, grading, drainage, trenching, and structural installations.

•

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

•

OSHA 30 certification (required).

•

Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specs, and construction schedules.

•

Must be willing to travel and work on remote job sites as needed.

Preferred:

•

Experience with EPC substation or transmission line contractors.

•

Familiarity with utility or power company construction standards.

•

CPR/First Aid certification.
