Die Repair/Corrector 2nd shift

Description:

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Die Corrector/Repairman ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Die Corrector/Repairman will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The general purpose of the Die Corrector/Repairman is to fix, repair, perform preventative care and improve performance of aluminum extrusion dies.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. The ability to read a blueprint is required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell.

The employee must frequently lift up 10 to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to vibrations.

The noise level in typically loud in this work environment. Hearing protection is required.

Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
