Job Title: Field Technician - Entry Level
Job Type: Contract (9 Months, with Potential for Extension)
Location: Washington, DC (Onsite)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Field Technician to assist in compliance remediation, network installations, and maintenance for telecommunication systems. The technician will handle various tasks such as equipment installation, network fixture migrations, and decommissioning of old fixtures. The role requires working with both inside and outside plant infrastructure, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and performing preventive maintenance on equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
•Breakdown, remove, and migrate telecommunication fixtures and electronics
•Install, remove, and configure network hardware such as cabinets, racks, and grounding fixtures
•Perform preventive maintenance on batteries and equipment
•Handle copper and fiber patch panel moves and transfers
•Transport and deliver tools and materials to job sites
•Fabricate mounts, hooks, and other necessary parts
•Assist with fire stopping treatments and grounding of telecom equipment
Required Skills & Experience:
•1-3 years of experience in OSP/ISP (Outside/Inside Plant) work
•Ability to read and interpret engineering work orders and electrical drawings
•Experience installing and maintaining network equipment, including batteries
•Proficient with power tools (hammer drills, band saws, reciprocating saws, etc.)
•Familiar with OSHA, EIA/TIA, ANSI, IEEE, and BICSI standards
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work independently or as part of a team
•Knowledge of grounding, bonding, and fire stopping techniques
•Familiarity with network troubleshooting and capacity planning
Preferred:
•Certifications: BICSI TECH, Level II Technician, Corning, Bellcore
•Familiarity with network infrastructure configurations (LAN, MAN, WAN)
Minimum Education:
•High School Diploma or GED required
•Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (preferred)

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
