Position Summary
The Fishing Unit Supervisor position has supervisory responsibilities for and directs all aspects of the crew’s work when performing wellbore fishing operations, including during the new well construction phase of drilling and at the work over or pulling unit rig site as part of the completion or work over phase. The Fishing Unit Supervisor is responsible for ensuring assigned fishing operations are efficient and effective according to company standards and customer expectations, and for maintaining and enforcing all safety standards and protocols.
Primary Responsibilities
•Supervise rig crew activities related to laying down the fishing tool bottom hole assembly when out of the hole.
•Direct the rig crew on the rig floor during operation of fishing tools down hole, including the work of the driller for the entire operation, which could last up to 14 hours in duration.
•Conduct safety meetings and direct rig crew regarding properly and safely pulling fishing bottom hole assemblies out of the well bore prior to pulling out of the hole.
•Oversee and ensure work procedures are performed safely, and equipment is properly handled and maintained in accordance with safety policies and standards.
•Collaborate with internal teams and customer representatives to plan work activities, schedules, equipment and related costs. Ensure correct equipment is ordered, used, serviced and maintained according to applicable procedures, standards and agreements.
•Collaborate with internal teams and customer representatives to troubleshoot problems related to properly cleaning customer’s well bore and other issues affecting the fishing operations.
•Maintain safety and cleanliness of fishing equipment to ensure equipment is readily available for fishing jobs.
Minimum Qualifications
•High school diploma, GED or equivalent
•Five (5) or more years of oilfield related work/rigs or fishing tool shop experience.
•Prior work experience as a driller and/or in fishing and milling operations.
•Ability to operate drilling rigs, workover rigs and snubbing units.
•Ability to foster and maintain an effective working relationship with crew members, internal team members and customers.
•Extensive knowledge of safety practices and measures in rig and fishing operations.
•Ability to perform manual labor required to safely and effectively execute the responsibilities of the role.
•Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills
•Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, often with little supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
•Supervisory or management experience in the oil and gas industry
