TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair and maintenance service provider for Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base.

We are currently looking for a motivated HSE Advisor (6 month contract) to join our team at the Airdrie Depot location.

Reporting to Manager, QHSE and working closely with and supporting the HSE field service, sales and international operations requirements established by TransCanada Turbines. This role may require some regular and emergent travel and remote work at TCT Branches and customer sites, primarily located in North America with limited international travel. The role will also require performing and assisting with some of the regular HSE-related tasks at Depot and the Test Cell.


Duties:

The duties may include but will not be limited to the following:

Coordinate and implement HSE related programs and ensure employees are aware of and subscribe to the policies and procedures contained therein.
Assist Manager of HSE in coordinating and prioritizing updates to standards, policies, procedures, Hazard Assessments and Safe Work Practices to continually improve HSE performance and ensure compliance with governing legislation.
Provide onsite HSE coaching and training to Field Service Technicians.
Lead and participate in incident investigations and prepare reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures.
Assist in the management of workplace injuries and illnesses cases as required.
Participate in the job pre-startup safety analysis with Field Service Branch Managers and customers.
Develop and communicate relevant safety communications material to Field Service personnel.
Support Branch Managers in developing Toolbox Talks that engages discussion with topics that are relevant to field service operations.
Immediately intervene and report any HSE non-conformance.
Travel to various sites globally to conduct inspections and audits on Field Service work to verify policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
Ensure HSE programs continually meet all regulatory requirements.
Support Branch Managers and Field Service Technicians in developing scope specific Field Level Hazard Assessments.
Support Branch Managers and Field Service Technicians to assess and comply with customer site and local regulatory requirements.
Provide HSE training and competency matrix for use by Field Service Technicians and Branch Managers to track and maintain HSE training and competency.
Support Branch Managers to evaluate and recommend training for Field Service Technicians.
Make recommendations on tooling, equipment, and PPE.
Represent TransCanada Turbines in all activities, as requested by the Manager, HSE and Asset Integrity
Build and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Increase knowledge of the HSE Policy and Manual and maintain a positive attitude towards the health and safety of myself and my coworkers.
Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for HSE.
Other duties as directed by Manager, QHSE.



Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in an HSE role that allows the individual to adequately perform the role, determined by the Manager, QHSE.

The following skills would be an asset for this role:

Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or the willingness to complete at the next opportunity.
Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 standard.
Previous experience and knowledge related to hazard identification, incident investigation experience and field-based training would be key attributes.
Knowledge of Lockout Tagout Systems and Control of Hazardous Energy.
Industry specific experience from an operational perspective at a power plant and/or gas compression facility.
Willingness and availability to travel.
Strong teamwork, planning, organizational, and analytical and decision-making skills are essential.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
