HVAC Service & Start-Up Technician

Position: HVAC Service Technician/Start-Up Technician

Reports to: Senior Project Manager

General Job Description:

The HVAC Service/Start-Up Technician will be responsible for making service calls to multi-family and light commercial properties for repair and maintenance, and work with equipment start-up process for new construction projects.

Responsibilities:

· Perform start-ups.

· Charge HVAC equipment to manufacturers specs using superheat and sub cooling.

· Keep up to date refrigerant and start-up logs.

· Diagnose HVAC air handlers and condensers.

· Responsible for inputting service notes in field service application.

· Work with dispatch on ordering parts.

· Communicate with property management.

· Keep work vehicle stocked.

· Work with various construction trades on multi-family home jobs.

· Communicate daily with jobsite supervisors and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

· EPA certification.

· High School Diploma or equivalent.

· 3+ years of previous experience in HVAC

· Ability to handle physical workload

· Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills,

· Valid Texas Driver’s License.

· Must have tools, torch and gauges, company provides vacuum pumps, recovery machines for company use.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Basic computer/tablet knowledge.

· Low voltage troubleshooting.

· Conventional HVAC system changeout knowledge.

· Compressor changeouts.

· Computer skills including ability to use email and App based programs.

· Strong understanding of low voltage wiring and schematics on split systems, 5 ton and below RTUS and mini splits.

Desired qualifications, certifications, and training:

· VRF and mini splint training or experience.

· Experience in multi-family HVAC.

· OSHA 10 Certification.

Essential Physical Functions: (These will vary based on position)

· Climbing: Ascending or descending stairs.

· Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

· Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

· Subject to outside environmental conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
