This individual will mechanically and electrically inspect disassembled AC and DC Motor and Generator components. It will require the ability to use specialized electrical testing equipment and all types and sizes of micrometers and calipers to complete forms. This individual will be responsible for maintaining all paperwork for an inspection area.
· Ability to read mechanical prints, understand materials, specifications, and machining parameters
· Verify mechanical dimensions by measuring each part as required
· Perform electrical testing of the equipment using various test equipment to determine the status of the core and windings
· Knowledge of the components being inspected and the required inspection requirements
· Take photographs of the components to indicate status and record deficiencies
· Verify and record the condition of the equipment
· Complete detailed inspection reports of the measurements and tests performed including suggestions on required repairs
· Ensure all measurement equipment is in calibration
· Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to safety procedures and requirements
· Experienced with the use of calipers, micrometers, and other mechanical measurement tools
· Ability to use Hi-Pot, DLRO, and surge comparison equipment
· Ability to perform AC and DC drop, DC polarity, and armature bar-to-bar testing
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
· Experience with the use of overhead cranes and air tools
· Experience with electric motors and generators a plus
· Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) a plus
