The salary range for this position is dependent on experience level ranging from $103,939 to $129,924.
The engineer will lead teams/projects that solve complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Able to work independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks. Participates and represents UI on industry associations. Follow updates in research and development in the power industry, specifically in distributed energy resources, through training and industry associations. Responsible for high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage transmission and distribution line designs for all operating companies in Avangrid Networks. Line designs include structural or electrical calculations, routing, and preparation of engineering drawings. The electric delivery system in Maine contains approximately 2,600 miles of transmission lines & 317 substations. The electric delivery system in New York contains approximately 5,600 miles of transmission lines & 621 substations. The electric delivery system in Connecticut contains approximately 130 miles of transmission lines and 28 bulk electric supply substations. Position reports to the Unit Manager - Lines, but the position will work day-to-day in a cross functional project team and support project needs as dictated by the project manager.
Perform detailed, complex engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles & other viable approaches.
Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services.
Utilizes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. (e.g. Customer generators, photovoltaic systems, fuel cells).
Approve, maintain, & understand drawings (e.g., schematics, oneline diagrams).
Develop & specify equipment, assemble documents & other requirements for assignments of complex level of difficulty using depth & breadth of expertise in own discipline.
Interpret internal/external business issues and recommend best practices and/or process improvements.
Lead teams, mentor & review engineering work of others.
Anticipate & make recommendations with respect to customer & stakeholder needs.
May be required to make presentations to regulatory/public entities.
Assist in guiding and mentoring engineers in design and engineering development.
Manage and provides direction for resources outside of the department/company.
Lead others to specify & design systems to resolve complex problems in non-std. situations & develop creative solutions.
Independently apply design stds., industry codes, design criteria, guidelines & UI polices/procedures.
Possesses in-depth knowledge and interprets processes and standards related to DG.
Represents Customer Engineering on projects, task forces and studies.
Develop business cases & manage projects/processes/initiatives or teams in accordance with applicable UI guidelines.
Coordinate phases of engineering for assigned portions of a project/program.
Forecast, plan, schedule, monitor, control budget/estimates, construction plans and material orders.
Assist in the management of resource allocation including developing forecasts and plans to ensure adequate resources are available.
