Job Description:
•Cutter Operators are responsible for cutting to length the tubing that was produced by the Mill Operators.
•Requires good mechanical aptitude.
•Performs visual inspection of parts to identify burrs, damage, and color to establish standards. Loads and unloads assigned machines.
•Observes machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction and reports problems to supervisor.
•Performs quality checks and documents each time they are due on the Cutter Log Form.
•References the production schedule and verify the product to the prints or specification forms available in the production area each time a new product (a new cut length) is started.
•Performs the changeover setup for different Cut to Length on the cutter
•Assures that the cutting knife is kept in a sharp condition to avoid burrs on the cut edges of the tubing
•Maintain a clean and safe work area
•Assists in training of new employees
•A team player who supports other cutters when feasible
•Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
•Six months previous experience in a manufacturing environment or technical school, preferred
•Demonstrated ability to correctly follow a rule or a basic set of rules, i.e. follow work instructions.
•Must have basic date entry and computer skills
•Ability to perform basic shop math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) computations
•Ability to effectively communicate in English for safety and direction.
•Frequent need to see details at a close range (within 18 inches of observer) to inspect for part conformity and/or part defect. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
•Ability to stand / walk for long periods of time operating and tending to machines.
•Ability to bend, stretch, twist.
•Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
•High School diploma or equivalent, preferred
