DCW is looking for a skilled machinist to program and run both CNC and manual machines. You will produce or repair precision parts for the industrial manufacturing industry. The primary machines are a Haas VF4 mill and a Mazak QT450 lathe. Also various manual lathes and a Bridgeport mill.
The right candidate will possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must also have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics, experience in machining software, with a preference for SolidWorks and CamWorks.
An ideal candidate will be a self-starter, efficient, and a team player, while ensuring effective production operations, optimizing procedures while remaining safety conscious.
· Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output
· Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
· Select appropriate machines and position or load material for a job
· Determine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.
· Monitor machine while working to adjust the feeds and speeds and identify process issues
· Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
· Quality control and inspections of final parts
· Experience in using and programming manual and CNC machines
· Fluent in using precision measuring instruments to take accurate measurements
· Strong knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
· Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
· Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
· High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
