We are looking for a Manager, Health Safety & Environment to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager you will lead safety and safety culture at Emera New Brunswick. This role will also ensure we meet or exceed environmental requirements.
Key Elements Of This Role Include
•Have responsibility for the overall maintenance of ENB’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management Programs including overseeing subsidiary systems, supporting implementation and reviewing safety and environmental performance metrics;
•Drive safety culture to enhance ENB’s safety performance, running a monthly safety meeting with all employees;
•Work closely with the Operations team to understand annual workplans and how they can be supported from a safety and environmental standpoint;
•Engage regularly with Emera Inc. corporate teams to determine best safety and environmental practices and areas for improvement at Emera New Brunswick and sharing lessons learned;
•Engaging with local community through bi-annual community engagement meetings on safety topics as well as looking to grow our impact around safety in the community;
•Build relationship and trust with all employees including field staff to better understand the challenges on carrying out day-to-day activities and subsequently make improvements through the Health, Safety and Environmental Management Programs;
•Creation and management of annual budgets for Safety and Environment Programs;
•Stay well-informed of the safety and environmental legislative changes across all of ENB’s geographies to ensure all safety and environmental programs align with these changes as well as best practice;
•Tracking, monitoring and repair of all environmental issues found on the ENB Right-of-Way;
•Support rollout of new technologies and digitization to better facilitate the input, monitoring, reporting and action around information.
These Skills Will Make You Successful
To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
•Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or related discipline(s);
•Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in safety management and system implementation, a combination of related education and experience may be considered;
•Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or a commitment to obtain certification within three (3) years;
•Working knowledge of applicable standards as well as Federal and Provincial regulations including Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Canada Labour Code, Canadian Energy Regulator Onshore Pipeline Regulations, applicable CSA Occupational Health and Safety Standards, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001;
•Loss prevention experience is highly desirable;
•Experience working in the field and possess a strong understanding of the safety risks and PPE involved in various work environments;
•Familiar with Operating Management Systems and the role that safety and environmental management play in the overall company performance and compliance;
•Demonstrated commitment and leadership on safety and environmental issues;
•Superior strategic thinking, organizational and decision-making skills;
•Excellent team building and influencing skills;
•Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment is required;
•Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills.
