Position : Field Sales Manager – Illinois

Purpose of the Role:

The Field Sales Manager is responsible for achieving sales and profit objectives within the assigned territory by hiring, training, and developing a high-performing sales team. This role focuses on managing the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) team of Account Executives while also serving as a Key Accounts Liaison to drive growth in select accounts across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy & Pipeline Management

Oversee and develop an accurate sales pipeline, ensuring strong forecasting and successful deal closures.

Create and execute a strategic marketing plan for the assigned territory based on market opportunities, customer needs, and past performance.

Maintain relationships with key district stakeholders to stay informed about purchasing cycles and educational needs.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and coach a team of Account Executives, setting clear objectives and providing ongoing feedback.

Conduct regular pipeline reviews, 1:1 coaching sessions, and field observations to support sales performance.

Attract, develop, motivate, and retain top sales talent.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnerships

Foster collaboration between sales, Customer Success, Curriculum Support, Services, Marketing, and Product teams to drive revenue growth.

Work closely with Account Executives and Account Managers in key accounts outside CPS to expand HMH’s footprint.

Operational & Financial Oversight

Manage the team’s budget and approve expense reports for direct reports.

Ensure compliance with company policies and sales best practices.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).

5+ years of sales experience with a proven track record of meeting quotas.

Sales Management experience strongly preferred

Educational sales experience and knowledge of Chicago Public Schools strongly preferred.

Proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce (or similar CRM).

Willingness to travel 60-70% of the time.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Benefits and Salary Range

Salary Range: $95-$105K + uncapped commissions
