Overview:
The Payroll Systems Manager is responsible for the expert-level maintenance, configuration, and optimization of the organization's payroll technology platforms, primarily UKG Pro and Kronos. This role serves as the primary point of contact within Payroll for system-related matters, ensuring data integrity, driving system testing and upgrades, and partnering closely with the IT department on technical integrations, infrastructure, and security. This position also plays a key role in documenting payroll processes, overseeing balancing and reconciliation, and providing backup support to the payroll processing functions.

Responsibilities:
•Serve as the primary Payroll point of contact for the expert-level administration, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of UKG Pro and Kronos payroll and timekeeping systems.
•Partner closely with the IT department on all technical aspects of payroll systems, including integrations, upgrades, security protocols, and infrastructure requirements.
•Lead and execute comprehensive testing of all system changes, upgrades, integrations, and new configurations within UKG Pro and Kronos to ensure accuracy and prevent disruptions.
•Drive the accurate setup and maintenance of critical system configurations within UKG Pro and Kronos, including earnings codes, deduction codes, tax rules, pay policies, and organizational structures.
•Manage data integrity within UKG Pro and Kronos, ensuring accurate data flow between systems and resolving data discrepancies.
•Develop, generate, and maintain comprehensive payroll-related reports and dashboards from UKG Pro and Kronos to support payroll operations and provide data insights.
•Lead the comprehensive documentation of payroll system configurations, processes, and workflows related to UKG Pro and Kronos.
•Thoroughly document the current payroll balancing and reconciliation processes, identifying system-related opportunities for improvement and automation.
•Analyze the current payroll processing environment and recommend system-based checks and balances to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
•Leverage strong working knowledge of UKG Pro and Kronos for data analysis, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring optimal system performance.
•Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors on system-related projects and initiatives.
•Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new payroll technologies or enhancements to existing systems, in partnership with IT.
•Provide backup support to the payroll processing team, including processing complex payrolls and resolving employee inquiries, as needed.
•Support internal and external audits by providing system-related documentation and data.
•Maintain a strong understanding of payroll best practices and relevant regulations as they relate to system configuration.

Qualifications:
Education / Training
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience.
•Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), preferred.
Work Experience / Skills
•5+ years of progressive experience in payroll processing and payroll systems administration, with a strong focus on UKG Pro and Kronos.
•Expert-level proficiency in the configuration, maintenance, and reporting capabilities of UKG Pro and Kronos is required.
•Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with IT departments on system-related projects and troubleshooting.
•Strong understanding of payroll processes, workflows, and their integration with payroll systems.
•Proven experience in documenting system configurations and payroll processes.
•In-depth understanding of payroll balancing and reconciliation methodologies, with the ability to leverage system functionalities for efficiency.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing and resolving system-related payroll issues.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with payroll team members, IT, HR, Finance, and vendors.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on deadlines.
•Ability to translate payroll requirements into effective system configurations.
•Understanding of payroll tax regulations, FLSA, and data privacy laws as they relate to system setup and data management.
•Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
