Mechanical Design Engineer

Apply engineering principles in the design, development, and manufacturing of explosive devices, safely and in accordance with company procedures. Must comply with safety, regulatory, and quality policies always. This position requires on-site presence and regular attendance to perform the essential duties.

Work Environment / Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work settings range from clean indoor labs to unprotected outdoor environments. The employee frequently works with or around explosives. This involves handling packaged/boxed explosives as well as instructing customers in the proper use, storage, and transportation of these explosives. While rare, any accident could be catastrophic and potentially result in injury or death to many employees. The employee frequently works with powders, sometimes in a dusty environment and occasionally around fumes. Workers must not be overly sensitive (allergies, rashes, etc.) to working in these conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, activate tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities that are required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements relate to obtaining a valid driver’s license and recognizing current Hazmat warning labels or markings that are color-coded.
