Key Project Requirements:
•Prior work experience as an O&M Technician
•Strong electrical and instrumentation and controls maintenance experience
•5+ years in a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant
•Proficient with DCS systems, ideally in a multi-skilled maintenance capacity
Job Summary:
NAES is hiring an experienced O&M Technician to support maintenance activities at a large combined cycle power facility located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for performing routine and corrective maintenance with a strong focus on electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in combined cycle operations, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work across multiple disciplines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Perform predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on IC&E, mechanical, and electrical systems
•Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain instrumentation and control systems
•Record and analyze operational data to support plant reliability and performance
•Respond to plant events and support continuous 24/7 operations
•Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards
•Participate in planning and executing outage and project maintenance activities
Job Requirements:
•A strong familiarity with Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programs and technical standards
•Experience with steam turbine and/or combustion turbine power generation preferred.
•Experience in working with a distributed control system (DCS) preferred
•Willingness to perform work independently and a strong desire for personal ownership and responsibility for their work.
•An analytical mindset with a questioning attitude for determining sustainable solutions.
•Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the Operations and Maintenance of a combustion turbine generating station, including balance of plant equipment (or similar heavy industry or process equipment)
•Ability to work shift work to include weekends, holidays, and be available for overtime as needed.
•Good computer skills including Microsoft Office and other computer-based productivity tools.
Physical Requirements:
•Physical requirements include lifting 50lbs, standing for long periods, walking, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling etc.
Education / Experience:
•5+ years’ experience in power plant operations and/or maintenance, or a similar related field, as a qualified plant operator and/or maintenance technician
•High School Diploma or GED required.
•A strong familiarity with Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programs and technical standards
•Prior experience with GE 7HA or LM6000 turbines is highly desirable
•Experience in working with a distributed control system (DCS).
