KeyBusinessObjectives:
This is a 2-month internship opportunity. The Overhaul Crew is responsible for learning and performing short and long-term storage maintenance, major maintenance and reconfiguration of USA Compression idle natural gas compression equipment. The Intern will report to the Maintenance Manager. All USA Compression employees are responsible for maintaining a safe and professional work environment. This position is based in Midland, TX.
DutiesandResponsibilities:
•+ Understand and follow all safety and environmental policies
+ Learn about engine rebuild/recondition on Caterpillar G3300, Cummins 8.3, 5.9 and G855, Arrow VRG 330
+ engines.
+ Learn about Compressor rebuild/recondition on Ariel, Gemini, and Arrow compressor frames
+ Understand and learn about engine component reconditioning
+ Assist with preserving and sealing idle units as they return to the storage yards
+ Learn how to roll over and re-preserve units that remain idle on a 180-day rotation
+ Assist in repairing packages and make ready for redeployment into active status
+ Assist in major and minor scheduled maintenance procedures on idle units as necessary
+ Learn how to reconfigure compressor cylinder arrangements as required to meet new contract needs
+ Assist in repairing and maintaining the heavy equipment inventory (HEI)
+ Perform general housekeeping by helping to keep warehouse facilities and yards free from trash and debris
+ Assist in the loading and unloading of units as they enter and leave the storage yards
+ Keep units clean and maintain safe working conditions
+ Any and all other duties as assigned.
Skills/CapabilitiesandEducation:
•Must be currently enrolled in a relevant or relatable technical school or program for natural gas compression.
•Detail-oriented, professional, and personable.
•Ability to fully utilize the technological resources provided.
•Good communication/interface skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other tech teams.
•High degree of mechanical ability.
•Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
•Ability to work extended hours.
•Ability to understand written and verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc.
•Applicant must have the ability to legally work in the U.S.
Working Conditions:
•Periodic lifting requirements in excess of 50 lbs.
•Ability to stand and walk on uneven and varied terrain, climb ladders and stairs; and stoop, squat,kneel, crouch and crawl depending on the task requirements.
•Exposure to extremes in temperature and weather conditions depending upon assigned location.
•Some exposure to high noise levels in excess of 85dBA that require ear protection, as well as exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials.
•There is a strong emphasis on safety while working with heavy equipment and machinery.
