The Opportunity

Under the direction and leadership of the Foreman, Pipeline Operations we are seeking a full-time permanent Pipeline Operator to join our Pipeline Operations department in St. Albert, Alberta. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient daily operation of the pipeline gathering system.

Key Responsibilities


Supervise producer tie-in to the pipeline system

Provide on call support for the Pipeline Operations department and after hours call for the area

Download and reporting monthly of EFM devices (Electronic Flow Measurement) for the Accounting department

Handle pipeline locate requests from Alberta Once Call system


Gather monthly and semi-annual gas samples

Direct flows and balance pipeline system to maximize production and troubleshoot any upsets in the pipeline system

Operate and maintain measurement stations and perform dew point testing for gas quality.

Provide pipeline support to the various Tidewater Midstream plants

Assist with the selection of contractors and monitor them in ensuring they follow Tidewaters policies and procedures

Understand, schedule, implement, monitor and report on requirements outlined in the Pipeline Integrity Manual (PIM)

Prepare, recommend and implement site specific maintenance tasks and procedures for all instrument equipment with the IGS system

Ensure all equipment records are kept current, part inventories and replacements are maintained

Maintain SCADA, radio communications equipment and install / calibrate measurement equipment


Managing field work for integrity dig program


Third party ground disturbance supervision


Calibrate third party producer measurement devices


Managing Pigging requirements for the areas

Ideal Candidate

Five to ten years as an Operator for a pipeline gathering system facility or related industry experience

Preference for Instrumentation Technician or Technologist with pipeline operations experience and or other industry related courses


Excellent operational problem solving is an asset.

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team along with mature judgement and responsible work habits


Enthusiasm and commitment to the job

Must be able to work alone with minimum supervision after training

Must be prepared to work in all types of weather


Excellent follow-through skills


Class 5 driver’s license

4th class would be an asset but not mandatory
