The Quality Technician - Technical Inspector will perform technical measurement requests and all other measurement and layout functions in an accurate, timely manner.
· Perform technical measurements (layouts) using precision measuring instruments and equipment; such as, CMM, contour tracing machine, optical comparator, sine equipment, surface plate, and surface roughness test equipment.
· Perform calibration of gauges, operate gauge software, and select and replenish gauges where needed.
· Supply inspection data to Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality departments, as well as outside technical personnel (i.e. customers).
· Analyze and interpret customer and GKN prints for inspection purposes. Make or update computer programs for CMMs. Evaluate data to determine reason for non-conformity of items (parts and/or tooling) and recommend corrective action.
· Instruct and train personnel on the use, procedures, methods and care of all Quality Assurance lab equipment. Perform maintenance (preventative and repair) on lab equipment. Order new and replacement parts as necessary.
· Assist in obtaining information through advanced inspection techniques for sample submissions, production problems, customer complaints or request.
· Assist the quality team in problem solving as needed.
Physical requirements: Good eye/hand coordination and finger dexterity; excellent vision and depth perception; ability to read and comprehend detailed, written instructions; ability to lift 20-50 lbs. occasionally; ability to determine product quality based on visual, dimensional, and statistical review.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
