Safety Advisor


Position Summary:

Under the direction of the H.S.E. Manager, the Advisor will be responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, and maintenance of workplace safety programs. As a dynamic member of the safety team, this position focuses on health and safety compliance to ensure all applicable regulation, codes and practices are being addressed and maintained. A strong collaborative approach in the implementation of programs and initiatives is essential in the success of this role. This position acts as an advisor, coach and mentor with field and corporate teams to identify, resource, audit & resolve identified health & safety issues.


Position Responsibilities:

Provide a visible presence in the field by performing site visits and evaluations on company and client locations.

Respond to incidents and ensure that they are reported appropriately. Participate and assist in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actions where necessary.
Develop, implement and maintain health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards
Prepare and deliver monthly safety meetings
Conduct regular inspections and audits as prescribed within the HSE-MS.
Utilize the OHSMS program (Workhub) to administer safety program compliance.
Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the HSE management system. Provide guidance and act as a resource for the Health and Safety Committee and Health and Safety Representatives.
Ensure new hires are orientated and all required documentation is completed accurately and forwarded to the head office.
Ensure safety boards with postings are maintained and current
Other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:

Technical certificate / diploma with a focus on occupational health and safety.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for applicable jurisdictions.
Strong safety leadership and organization skills, with the ability to direct and achieve priorities, goals, and strategies with limited supervision.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to appropriately target communication to intended audience, ranging from presentations for workers and management to interactions and meetings with a variety of agency and community stakeholders.
Proficient knowledge of computers and typical office software applications (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.),
Ability and desire to travel.


Physical Requirements:

Good physical mobility and dexterity to conduct inspections under a variety of conditions
Normal physical strength & fitness to handle conditions consistent with position responsibilities.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


Pay: $35.00-$42.00 per hour


Expected hours: 40 per week
