The Maintenance Shop Mechanic ("MSM") is responsible for the diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of the company's transportation and construction vehicles and equipment, such as over-the-road vehicles, generators, welding machines, forklifts, boats, motors, etc. This person must be able to maneuver around a variety of vehicles with ease. The Maintenance Shop Mechanic is required to have a thorough knowledge of the use and maintenance of all common hand and power tools and equipment, as well as the vehicles and equipment being worked on.
The position requires physical work under all environmental conditions. Good physical conditioning is important to success in the position. An MSM must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., as needed. The ability to obtain and continually maintain a Form MSCA-5876, US DOT FMCSA Medical Examiner's Certificate for Commercial Driver Medical Certification ("Med Card") is required.
Some travel may be required to meet the requirements of the Norway and South Paris maintenance shops and the needs of field personnel - a driver's license and reliable vehicle are required for getting to the maintenance shops. A typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
