Plains Midstream Canada has a career opportunity for a Corrosion Specialist within the Operations team. This role is responsible for the coordination and oversight towards survey and maintenance of our cathodic protection systems and equipment. Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance, we are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident in their ability to deliver program execution while managing the needs and constraints of various stakeholder groups. #plains

This is a field position, working out of the PPTC Pipeline Regina office with frequent travel throughout Plains assets in Southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and facilitate scheduled cathodic protection (CP) surveys of pipelines, tanks, and facilities in compliance with Plains Corrosion Programs.

Surveying and troubleshooting of rectifiers, anodes, foreign bonds, casing test points and other points of interest to confirm functionality and protection levels.
Oversee field maintenance and remediation of CP deficiencies as required, i.e. test station installation/repairs, cadwelds and cable splicing/repair, rectifier/RMU adjustments and repairs.
Oversee rectifier/ground-bed installations, monitor and maintain existing facilities.
Review and analyze pipe surface inspection data.
Correct and mitigate interference issues with other pipeline companies.
Computerize all data, maintain records and provide reports to the Corrosion Supervisor.
Coordinate and analyze chemical injection programs and read internal corrosion monitoring devices at prescribed frequencies.
Develop and maintain a 10 year long range budget and execution plan.
Project management and coordination duties.
Model and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.


Qualifications:

5+ years of experience with construction, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems and/or pipeline maintenance programs.
Completion of AMPP/NACE CP Level 1 or Level 2 certification is desired.
Journeyman electrician certification would be considered an asset but not required.
Understanding of the usage of multi-meters and related electrical test equipment, maintenance and use of half-cells, UT equipment, cadweld processes, GPS, data loggers, pipe locators, current interrupters, and related testing/diagnostic and pipe protection equipment and processes.
Strong computer skills, familiarity with database systems such as PCS would be preferred.
Familiarity with CMMS systems such as Maximo, SAP.
Ability to interpret equipment manuals, service notices, technical documents and data.
Possess excellent communication ability, both written and verbal.
Must be organized and proficient in record keeping.
Capable of problem solving and able to meet deadlines.
Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects concurrently.
Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious.
Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
Ability to travel for extended periods (up to 35%) throughout assigned district to coordinate field execution plans as needed.
Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks.
Compliance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Ability to complete safety training and other required training and certifications.
Expectation that employee resides within 100km of the assigned field office Regina, SK.
