Position Summary

The executive leader for Community Impact is a key leadership position responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the company’s mission, values, and strategic business objectives related to Community Engagement and Corporate Responsibility. This role leads all aspects of the company’s community engagement initiatives, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and driving positive impact between the utility and community. This leader’s role is to enhance the customer experience by providing operational oversight and strategic leadership to the Corporate Responsibility, and Community Strategy, and Engagement teams. This leader leverages their expertise to build partnerships, drive change, and support the community impact strategy, designs and executes a comprehensive plan to meet business objectives, and works to improve customer satisfaction scores through prompt resolution of customer concerns. The leader develops policies and procedures, implements, and improves programs and related activities, and benchmarks work to support continuous improvement. Additionally, this key leader collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance in the areas of Community Impact.


Tasks and Responsibilities

Understands and incorporates the CPS Energy mission, goals and brand throughout the organization and community.

Promotes confidence and public trust through education, communication and working collaboratively to build relationships.
Communicates the company’s direction and initiatives to external executives, elected officials including City Council, customers, and media partners.
Develops and maintains strong peer relationships with key partner organizations, including local committees, agencies, non-profit partners, neighborhood groups, businesses and local government personnel.
Leverages industry groups (such as LPPC, APPA, SBA, Chambers of Commerce) through membership and networking.
Collaborates with other departments to carry out the organization's goals and objectives.
Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of assigned teams.
Accountable for development and execution of business plan initiatives and milestones, including attainment of business metrics.
Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes.
Develops and monitors budgets and internal controls.
Is responsible for the planning and execution of specific stakeholder engagement projects and events, including coordinating opportunities for employees at all levels to interact and engage with members of the community.
Oversees the organization’s Sponsorship & Membership program in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Identifies future funding needs and engages in a strategic plan to meet those needs.
Accountable for the administration of the Sustainable for Tomorrow Energy Plan (STEP) weatherization program establishing homes and megawatt goals deliverables. Responsible for execution of multimillion-dollar budget, program design, contract execution, vendor & contractor management and program implementation.
Has oversight of collaborative funding sources and stringent financial reporting in compliance with local and federal regulations.
Develops and implements public safety & education training and communications in compliance with RP1162 regulatory requirements.
Provides presentations to relevant partners and community groups that expand the awareness of CPS Energy programs and services.
Accountable for execution of department crisis management plan to include deployment of resources during natural disasters and extended outages.
Leads the development and implementation of proactive equity initiatives and serves as a catalyst for integrating equity strategies into the organizations day-to-day operations.
Oversees the preparation of bids, contracts or written reports including associated cost estimates and /or specifications related to customer assistance programs.
Ensures compliance with associated rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Recruits, interview, hires and trains staff.
Develops annual performance goals and conducts performance reviews.
Provides constructive and timely feedback.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills


Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Increasingly responsible experience in customer service, municipal government, economic development, corporate responsibility, community engagement or a related field.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, work collaboratively with others, and proactively cultivate relationships with a diverse range of internal and external partners.

Ability to handle competing priorities, balance multiple objectives and coordinate projects with diverse stakeholders.

Track record of excellent people management and team leadership.

Experience managing contracts and expenditures of fund related to dynamic programs.

Motivated self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.

Strong planning, organizational and execution skills with unwavering attention to detail.

Must have strong business writing, presentation, and oral and written communication skills.Preferred Qualifications

Experience in business planning.

Solid understanding of business operations.
Ability to perceive organizational and political sensitivities and act accordingly.
Experience in writing grants.
Experience working with or serving on a Board of Directors.
Experience in starting or running a non-profit organization.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Communications, or other related degree field, or equivalent job experience in lieu of degree.Required Certifications


Working Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.

Ability to travel frequently to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events. After hours work will be required. On call 24x7x365 to respond to customer escalations.Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
