Mesa seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern to be part of our Knoxville design team. Candidate must be highly motivated, have a questioning mindset, be safety conscious and possess exemplary communications skills. Substation P&C design principles will be taught and Mesa online training will be provided. This position involves working under the direct supervision of Mesa senior P&C design personnel.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works under the direction of Mesa Senior/Principal Engineers, Designers and Engineering Managers.
Applies basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices to design in the area of substation P&C.
On a task basis, assist in the preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as design criteria, calculations, drawings and specifications.
Works closely with design team and other substation design disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Quickly become familiar with client and Mesa Policies and Business Unit procedures, complies with procedural requirements for document/deliverable generation.
Must be willing to perform self-study in order to get up to speed learning substation P&C design principles.
Not only performs quality work but also performs a self-check of his/her own work prior to submittal to senior Mesa designers/engineers.
Capable of preparing drawings using AutoCAD.
Manages personal task assignments.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Possess exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
Possess willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
Possess the ability to walk and climb stairs and/or ladders in an industrial environment without an inordinate amount of stress.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS:

AutoCAD experience is preferred.
Entry level engineering position requiring ongoing or completed coursework in BSEE degree from an accredited institution.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment with occasional field trips to substation and/or power generating facilities.
