Job Description

X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Risk Informed Safety Analysis team in the role of Engineer I, Probabilistic Risk Assessment. This position will perform risk assessments in accordance with the appropriate industry standards and guidance, authoring and reviewing PRA-related documents that support modelling and applications for risk insights. This role will use risk-related software to create and maintain PRA models that represent the design of X-energy projects. They will also produce and review calculation documents that support and control the PRA model files, use PRA models, and apply them to a range of applications to provide risk insights to support the design and future operation of X-energy projects.

Responsibilities

This role will execute the following core tasks and responsibilities under guided supervision.

+ Follow the guidance of ASME/ANS RA-S-1.4-2021 (or other applicable PRA-related industry standards) in creating and maintaining PRA models and supporting calculation documents + Revise and review of PRA documents + Follow the guidance of dozens of PRA-dependent applications (such as NEI 18-04) to acquire risk insights from the PRA to inform the design process and licensing basis of projects + Develop increasing proficiency in using PRA-related software (e.g. EPRI’s Phoenix Architect) in accordance with X-energy procedures, ensuring the correct software version is being used in the manner it was verified, be aware of limitations and restrictions of software, and ensure software is referenced in documents that depend on its use + Perform main PRA tasks including event tree and fault tree development, and associated documentation + Develop screening methods, risk-informed supplemental evaluations, and/or PRA models for different plant operating modes and states, radionuclide sources, various internal and external hazards, and multi-reactor considerations

+ A master’s degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of two years of experience + A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of three years of experience

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD

Work Site Expectations: 4-5 days in office

Travel Expectations: up to 10% depending on project requirements

Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm ET, Mon-Fri

Compensation
