About This Job

Our Novitech team is growing, and we’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Design Technologist to join us in our Vaughan, Ontario location. The primary focus of this role will be to create precise technical engineering drawings that meet established standards while contributing to the design and development of innovative products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical design and technical drafting, with proven experience using SolidWorks and other relevant design software.


Key Responsibilities:

Develop and produce technical engineering drawings that adhere to industry and company standards for parts and assemblies.
Collaborate with engineers and designers to transform conceptual designs into detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation.
Review and revise drawings based on feedback, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering specifications.
Support product development by contributing to the design of parts, assemblies, and systems.
Maintain drawing revisions and documentation in accordance with the company's PDM system.
Work closely with fabrication and manufacturing teams to resolve design or production issues.
Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and best practices in technical drafting and design.


Required Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, including experience with part modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with PDM systems for managing design files and revisions.
Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and industry-standard drafting practices.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, preferably in a manufacturing or product development setting.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality work under deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with other CAD tools like AutoCAD or Inventor.
Familiarity with material selection and manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, 3D printing).
Knowledge of pipeline inspection tools or related industries is an asset.
Experience automating design tasks or workflows using scripts or macros (e.g., in SolidWorks).
