ABOUT US:

Since 2009, Gowest has expanded its land holdings in the North Timmins Gold Project (“NTGP”) area to cover a total of 109 square km in the Timmins gold camp, with much of the additional lands being located along the same geological structures – along the largely undeveloped Pipestone Fault, believed to be a splay off the prolific Porcupine-Destor Fault, which has produced the majority of the 145 million ounces of gold produced historically along the Abitibi-Greenstone belt – that host Gowest’s Bradshaw Gold Deposit (formerly Frankfield East) as well as a number of other gold showings.


POSITION SUMMARY:

As a member of the Bradshaw Engineering team, the successful candidate will report to the Chief Engineer or his designate. This role will require an individual who is safety driven, safety conscious, and capable of working with a diverse team of Technical Services staff. This role provides an opportunity for a student to develop engineering-related skills.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Protecting the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers.
Following all Company specific safety protocols, policies, and procedures relating to Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, and Communities.
Providing drill & blast designs, prints, mine plans, and operational instructions for underground mining activities.
Maintaining and continuously improving scheduling and drill and blast processes, procedures, and tools.
Regularly inspecting underground operations to ensure plan compliance and to identify opportunities to improve our practices.
Engaging with other members of the Mine Technical Services and Operations teams to continuously improve safe ore production while minimizing cost.
Tracking, analyzing, and reporting from relevant data sets to provide and assess plan inputs and compliance.
Attending daily operations meetings.
All other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

This position is open to all students registered in a Mine Engineering Program.
Ability to repeatedly lift at least 50lbs, walk significant grades, and stand for extended periods of time.
Previous mine engineering experience through summer employment, a cooperative program or fulltime work experience will be highly regarded.
Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data.
Strong communication, computing, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time.
Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safe behavior.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Possess a valid driver's license.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The role is located at the Bradshaw Gold Project, which is approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, Canada.
The ideal candidate for the role will work a schedule of 4 days on and 3 off, 10-hour days. Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
