BASIC FUNCTION: ​

Omya Technology Center at Cincinnati is looking for a truly hands-on, well-trained individual with a high desire to excel, be extremely cooperative, ambitious, inquisitive, and be able to communicate well with peers, scientists, and managers. Laboratory work will include utilization of chemicals and/or minerals using established or experimental laboratory methods. Responsible for logging in sam­ples, entering data, and reporting data.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform advanced and non-routine product and application analysis using a variety of techniques
Perform maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of instruments used to perform the tests
Record test results in computer-based data retention system
Log new samples into computer-based laboratory management system
Identifies disconnects between laboratory test methods and expected results in the daily operation of specific projects, and modifies/elevates as determined by use of scientific or engineering methods
Can work under guidance to test and implement new methods and processes
Communication Skills
Shares perspective on team challenges in a positive manner
Actively participates in team and work group activities
Suggests process improvements and modifications to existing procedures, equipment, instruments, or QSHE to improve performance or capabilities
Completes tasks in a timely manner
Within the team, focus on task-oriented activities
Recognizes value of intellectual property and assets (eg. Confidentiality agreements, good experimental documentation, etc.)
Generates and logs data in support of IDF’s, patents, reports, and publications
Consistently demonstrates the highest QSHE standards and lives by the Omya values
Intervenes when inappropriate behavior is exhibited
Exposed to and pursuing Omya leadership attributes
May have role in coordinating ISO or safety activities for team or OTCC department
Other duties as assigned, may include travel


QUALIFICATIONS: ​

Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Science, Engineering or Chemistry and 4 years of laboratory or relevant experience or a minimum of 7 years of laboratory or relevant experience with High School Diploma.

Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity to operate various tests on basic and complex lab equipment is essential.

Excellent computer and software skills in word processing and excel spreadsheet applications

Good organization and communication skill. Good command of both oral and written English is required and ability to travel as required.

Proficiency in office and technical software (eg. Microsoft Office 365).

Must possess current US employment authorization, sponsorship not available for this position.
