About This Job

JOB PURPOSE & REPORTING STRUCTURE

Under direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and upper level maintenance personnel, the Maintenance

Helper assists upper level maintenance personnel to perform repairing, set up and adjusting, welding, and lubrication activities, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

III. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform routine and basic maintenance tasks such as welding, changing filters, greasing and oiling all shredders, balers, shears and conveyors, and other similar duties.
Set and adjust bearings, replace and adjust belts, drives, idlers, etc.
Assist other upper level maintenance personnel to move and position parts, materials, tools, etc.

D. To disassemble and reassemble machines and equipment.

May operate company vehicle to pick up parts and materials in local area.
Operate power lift equipment to move and position material and supplies.
Perform torching activities as directed.
Notify supervisor of any problems or concerns related to equipment, tools, etc.
Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Plan work sequences to ensure the most effective completion of work assignments.

M. Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquires and problems.


V. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Requires four years of high school and up to six months related experience to learn a basic knowledge of

maintenance procedures and practices; or a combination of education and experience.


VI. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Requires the ability to obtain lift equipment operator’s certificate
May require a valid drivers license


VII. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and blueprints, short correspondence, schematics and symbols, and memos.
Ability to write standard correspondence and complete all required documentation and paperwork.
Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.


VIII. REASONING DEVELOPMENT

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


X. MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


XI. COMMUNICATION DEVELOPMENT

Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and blueprints, short correspondence, schematics and symbols, and memos.
Ability to write standard correspondence and complete all required documentation and paperwork.
Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.

The employee may be required to wear gloves, goggles, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety boots,


while working in a production area.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Hours: 2:30pm - 10:30pm
