JOB OPPORTUNITY:

Bell Lumber & Pole MB ulc, formerly Roblin Forest Products, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Roblin, MB . Our company is 115+-year-old family-owned and operated business with operations in both Canada and the United States. We are a manufacturer of wooden utility poles, fence posts, firewood and mulch. JOB PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Technician is tasked with maintaining our facility's functionality, safety, and operational efficiency. This intermediate-level technician will carry out diverse maintenance and repair tasks, execute complex equipment inspections, and actively contribute to the overall performance and safety of our workplace. Leadership duties will include guiding other Maintenance Technicians. This role will have a direct impact on the ability to provide a secure and productive environment for employees and visitors.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Execute a wide range of maintenance tasks, encompassing plumbing, electrical work, HVAC systems, and advanced carpentry, demonstrating expertise in these areas.
Independently address and troubleshoot complex repairs, including identifying and resolving issues, diagnosing faults, and recommending improvements.
Lead equipment inspections, identifying and documenting issues, and coordinating with senior technicians or management to implement corrective actions.
Champion a culture of safety, ensuring absolute adherence to industry standards and proactively identifying and rectifying potential hazards to ensure a secure work environment.
Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory, providing data for performance analysis and cost control.
Collaborate with senior technicians and cross-functional teams on major maintenance projects, installations, and renovations.
Spearhead preventive maintenance programs, utilizing your expertise to optimize equipment performance, extend longevity, and reduce downtime.
Be readily available for on-call duties and respond swiftly to emergency maintenance requests, employing your advanced skills to restore operations.
Develop and manage preventive maintenance initiatives to optimize equipment performance, extend service life, and minimize operational disruptions.
Assist in scheduling and work assignment coordination to ensure efficient use of resources for project and repairs while mitigating downtime.
Update senior management, conveying feedback and performance assessments.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical training or certification preferred.

Experience: Substantial prior experience in general maintenance or a related field. Proficiency in heavy mobile equipment, automotive, agricultural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and carpentry techniques.


SKILLS BASED REQUIREMENTS:

General diagnostic experience
Expertise in operating a wide array of hand and power tools.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and adaptability.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
Commitment to staying abreast of emerging maintenance technologies and best practices.
A valid driver's license and dependable transportation may be required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and is frequently required to sit, talk and hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation or toxic fumes. Employees will have moderate exposure to noise as heard in a pole yard and/or treating plant environment, at times noise levels will exceed safe working levels. Employees will have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood and cleaning the plant. The job requires overtime, up to and including overnight stays.
