The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.
The
Public Relations Coordinator
will serve as the public-facing voice and communications lead for the SR 400 Express Lanes Project, a transformative 16-mile infrastructure initiative from MARTA’s North Springs Station to north of McFarland Parkway. This role is responsible for managing all outreach, stakeholder communication, media relations, and public information on behalf of SR 400 Peach Partners and in collaboration with GDOT and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Public Engagement & Communications
•Develop and distribute clear, accurate, and timely information through press releases, social media, websites, newsletters, fact sheets, and presentations.
•Serve as a spokesperson at public meetings, media interviews, briefings, and events, when requested by GDOT or SR 400 PP.
•Coordinate and support community outreach, including public meetings, town halls, and educational presentations.
•Respond promptly to public inquiries, stakeholder questions, and community concerns.
•Oversee the creation of content calendars and manage day-to-day communications across all platforms.
Stakeholder Coordination
•Maintain and update stakeholder databases, including property owners, elected officials, business leaders, and commuters.
•Work with GDOT to schedule, organize and/or facilitate public meetings, community education presentations (with civic and/or business groups), town halls, forums, etc. to increase the public and key stakeholders’ knowledge about the project and its current status.
•Receive and log comments, questions and concerns from the general public and/or other stakeholders and forward those inquiries to appropriate project staff for response.
•Provide ongoing updates to GDOT and government agencies on outreach activities, project milestones, and public sentiment.
•Support and provide materials for GDOT’s public information and stakeholder engagement efforts.
Media & Collateral Management
•Prepare and review media advisories, project collateral, visual content, and GDOT-requested materials.
•Field, log, and escalate all media inquiries to GDOT’s Project Communications Manager (PCM).
•Coordinate with GDOT’s Public Information Officer (PIO) for communication displays, surveys, and public-facing content.
•Support event logistics including media tours, stakeholder briefings, and special events, requires coordination with GDOT’s District Communication Manager (DCM).
•Manage external public relations firm and any photo/video contractors.
Reporting & Documentation

•Provide monthly input for GDOT’s Public Information Report.
•Track and maintain all communications documentation for compliance and transparency.
Emergency & Incident Communication
•Follow the Emergency Communications Plan for all urgent or high-impact situations.
•Notify GDOT’s Project Management Team (PMT) 72 hours in advance of construction activities affecting the public.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (required).
•3–5 years of experience in public affairs, preferably in transportation, infrastructure, or public policy.
•Outstanding written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism.
•Experience with media relations, event planning, and stakeholder outreach.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms.
•Knowledge of GDOT communications protocols and public infrastructure outreach is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience managing external consultants or public relations agencies.
•Familiarity with transportation or government-related public engagement.
•GIS or map-based communications for traffic or impact visuals is a plus.
