Tractor Operator Job Description
Big AL Mowing is a roadway and farm maintenance and construction company. We have contracts with the TN Department of Transportation and other governmental and commercial clients to maintain the roadways in Middle TN (primarily in Dickson, Hickman, Humphreys, Montgomery, Stewart, Houston, and Maury Cos). We utilize Kubota tractors and LandPride cutters. Additionally, we have earthmoving and excavating equipment that we use on some jobs.
Job Description:
•
Ability to operate other machinery, including tractors and bushhogs, backhoe, skid steer, and mini-excavator as needed
•
Mow/Bushhog grass in accordance with specifications given for particular sections of roadways, as directed by your supervisor
•
Daily maintenance check of fluids, lubricants, wear parts, tires, glass, and general condition of assigned machinery and report issues immediately
•
Read and understand plans, drawings, and engineering specifications to complete cycles to satisfaction of management and client
•
Safely and productively operate equipment on public roadways and job sites while maintaining proper awareness of surroundings and adapting to changing environment including traffic, soil conditions, and weather
•
Ensures a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance and erosion control
•
Train new employees in a safe and efficient operation of equipment
•
Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and ideas
•
Participates in general labor duties related to construction work
•
Performs other duties as necessary, including weed eating, zero-turning, driving, trailering, and litter pick up in order to complete the job

Previous experience operating tractors or heavy equipment, preferred roadway experience

Follows Policies and Procedures based as outlined in the company handbook
•
Legally in the United States with appropriate documentation to complete Form I9
•
This is temporary work, expected to last from the 9th of September to the 11th of October
•
May require some travel
•
Pre-employment drug screen
•
This position reports to the Service Manager
•
Preferred for operators to have driver’s license that is acceptable to our insurance company
•
$21.05/hour, Overtime potential (over 40 hrs)
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: From $21.08 per hour
Schedule:

10 hour shift
•
12 hour shift
•
Monday to Friday
•
Overtime
•
Weekends as needed
