USA Drilling Optimization Manager

We have an opening for a USA Drilling Optimization Manager based out of Houston or Midland TX. The USA Drilling Optimization Manager’s primary goal is to maximize the performance and efficiency of the USA Prism Optimization Center, doing so by managing the flow of information from data collected at the well site and transferred to the optimization center to be distributed appropriately. This includes providing expertise, direction, and advice on the operation, execution, documentation, and analysis of all Prism Center related activities.


Responsibilities also include:

Provide coaching, training, expertise, advice, and leadership to the Prism team to achieve the overall objective of maximizing operational efficiency while minimizing system, process, and human error incidents.
Provide recommendations to customers on how to drill their wells as efficiently as possible and manage the flow of information from the field to the Prism Center then to the respective end users.
Manage the daily drilling performance tracking process with the assistance of the Operations and Sales groups.
Maintain sufficient operational performance to improve product delivery and customer service, including holding the team accountable for performance standards and in-depth investigation of technical drilling issues associated with MWD, and performance drilling motor equipment.
Manage the process of documenting historical and current drilling performances including ensuring all project KPI’s are successfully collected in the most efficient manner.
Work closely with the Reliability department to ensure useful run data is available to assist in incident management and ensure drilling performance related information and/or optimization requests are filed appropriately in the Company’s incident reporting program(s).
Work closely with the Operations and Sales teams to ensure field personnel and operations management have useful data to track performance. This includes assisting with the creation of DOD’s, daily reports tracking performance, technical analysis, and recommended actions for performance improvements.
Work with the Operations department stakeholders to develop and implement formal policies, procedures, and technical alerts that will benefit the overall performance of our equipment and services. Distribute to all stakeholders and follow up on items addressed.
Work closely with QA/QC, performance drilling motor, MWD and Reliability departments to assist with technical drilling performance data that contributes to improvements in reliability and/or design.
Assist with the development of the Company’s optimization reporting and analysis tools, including leading development groups, assigning development teams to key objectives and tasks, and making recommendations on continual improvement initiatives with the Company.
Assist Technical Marketing Representatives when addressing technical issues raised by potential and existing customers, ensuring they have useful, accurate data to present to customers.
Assist other departments with various projects when time permits.
Perform all duties to meet the responsibilities listed in the Employee and Corporate HSE Handbooks.
Perform duties according to the Company’s quality system procedures and work instructions.

The successful candidate will have a Minimum 10 years’ experience in the directional drilling industry with an emphasis on performance drilling motors, MWD, and RSS as well as a Minimum 3 years’ of Drilling Optimization management experience with specialized knowledge of drilling tool manufacturing, operating, and servicing. A degree in engineering or geology, or a technical or mathematics post-secondary diploma is preferred. The candidate must have an expert level of understanding of downhole conditions and drilling dynamics, be proficient in drilling industry software, including software specifically focused on well planning/engineering, drilling data acquisition, data presentation (PowerPoint and Power BI).
