Job Summary

This role is responsible for the analysis, development, communication and delivery of benefit plans and work-life programs that are competitive and cost-effective. Stay ahead of market trends and legislative changes while providing expert guidance to AEP’s benefit plan strategy. Leverage knowledge of AEP's business, industry data, and financial strategies to ensure our plans remain aligned with industry standards and effectively meet the needs of our workforce.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Conduct Research and Analysis: Research benefit plan trends and analyze plan experience and data to make recommendations that keep AEP plans competitive within established guidelines and objectives. Assess the short-term and long-term effects and resultant impacts of changes in benefit programs.

2) Develop Innovative Plans: Create and present ideas for new benefit plan designs that enhance their functional capacity for AEP and its employees.

3) Maintain Administrative Controls: Recommend and uphold administrative controls and audits in benefit plan administration to ensure efficient operations, including the maintenance of necessary records and procedures to manage plan costs effectively.

4) Data Analysis, Reporting & Process Documentation: Create and analyze detailed reports from the benefit administration system and Workday to ensure the accurate delivery of employee benefits. Maintain consistency and clarity in benefit administration through process documentation. Support administration and analysis of file integrations to ensure operational efficiency and data accuracy.

5) Time-Off & Absence Policy Lead: Policy lead for Leave of Absence (LOA), Paid Time Off (PTO), and Long-Term Disability (LTD) programs, guiding the development and implementation of policies within Workday to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational objectives.

6) Communications Lead: Lead the development and dissemination of communications related to employee benefits, ensuring that employees are well-informed about the available programs and their value.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Insurance, Economics or other related field; or Associate's Degree with two (2) years of HR experience; or a high school diploma or GED with four (4) years of HR experience.

Work Experience:* Minimum of four (4) years of HR experience to include two (2) years of benefits plan design experience in addition to any experience identified above.

Experience in ERISA.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:* Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
Physical demand level is Sedentary
