Civil Construction Superintendent

Summary of the Role:

A team lead position in the Civil Construction Industry supporting Voyageur Services Limited in the Orangeville/Shelburn area, directing Civil trades utilized in performing projects and maintenance work. This position will focus on significant strategic project initiatives in addition to standard civil project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensures field execution of projects adhere to safety requirements, scope, schedule and standards/procedures

· Attend and monitor pre-job briefings, safe work planning, daily site visits, post job debriefs and weekly tailboard meetings

· Manage the scheduling of civil project activities

· Ensure that all projects are constructed without deviation from quality standards

· Participate in construction kick-off meetings

· Communicate impacts and design deviations to Project Lead

· Responsible for Civil sub-contractors utilized at site

· Responsible to coordinate cross functional activities involving the trades at location

· Responsible for Civil safe work

· Communicate and coordinate with Project Lead on any resource constraints

· Responsible for ensuring Civil trades follow Voyageur Services Limited and their respective Client’s processes in each EHS Policies

· Any other task assigned by the Construction Manager

· Participating with client in pre-planning for assigned projects

· Work with team to deliver projects according to design, budget, and schedule

· Problem identification and resolution as problems arise

· Challenge less than desirable results and work towards implanting positive changes

· Provide daily oversight on projects with the trades performing the work

· Maintain the required level of skill and competence with the construction activities

· Identify, recommend training needs and develop staff

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

· Knowledge and Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience

· 5 -10 years of experience in project management and or execution.

· Demonstrated work experience, working with diverse, multi-disciplined work groups

· Managing within collective agreements.

Specific Experience or Skills

· Strong leadership skills, in leading/managing diverse multi-disciplined work groups

· Clear understanding of project management principles

· Overall knowledge of nuclear industry practices

· Understand and comply with all EHS policies and procedures

· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing

· Highly motivated self-starter with ability to work independently

· Ability to manage deadlines and requirements of multiple internal and external stakeholders

· Proficient with Microsoft office, excel, email and other software programs
