The Opportunity:
We are looking for Drilling engineer to join our Drilling team at Canadian Natural! As the successful candidate, you will be involved in Canadian drilling and completion activities with a focus on delivering safe, low-cost operations with strong pre-spud planning. You will have the opportunity to participate in design, assurance and execution phases of projects across a wide range of areas.
•Job location: Calgary, Alberta (Periodic travel to site will be required)
•Shift schedule: 5x2 - Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day

Key Accountabilities:
•Plan and program drilling operations safely, cost effectively and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
+ Prepare accurate programs, along with detailed and accurate cost estimates
+ Complete detailed area reviews, analyze offset well data and new technologies to develop optimized drilling techniques and liner designs
+ Prepare and present peer reviews on area development and well designs
•Review well files to generate drilling, completion and well servicing history
•Work in conjunction with and provide leadership to asset teams to effectively design, forecast materials, plan and budget projects
+ Manage timing and scheduling of drilling projects and communicate information to management, asset teams, vendors and all disciplines involved throughout the project
•Provide support during drilling operations and assist the Operations Superintendent with daily operations, planning and vendor performance analysis
•Complete project reviews and lookbacks to evaluate the effectiveness of projects in order to optimize current and future projects
•Document and implement learning events and incorporate into future projects
+ Stay current with drilling and completion production liner technology to ensure timely and effective application of technology
What you Bring to the Role:
•5-10 years of technical/operational experience in both conventional and/or thermal drilling and completion activities
•A Bachelor’s degree in engineering and registration or eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA)
•Strong project management skills gained through experience of multi discipline, complex projects; Strong understanding of project development and delivery process
•Ability to lead technical change through all steps of innovation, development, risk management, implementation, training and sustainment
