The Field Service Department is responsible for driving aftermarket service revenue and cultivating strong client relationships by providing exceptional startup, maintenance, retrofit, and engineering services to our clients. The overall objective of this position is to provide both proactive and reactive service excellence to clients through customer-focused communication, technical expertise, and preventative maintenance in a manner that reflects our company brand. Consistent and accurate modeling and representing of the Point Eight Power brand, mission, vision, values and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
Essential Accountabilities
•Perform field preventative/routine maintenance, installation, calibration, and emergency services for new or existing clients on low/medium/high voltage power systems across a variety of industries on Point Eight Power custom equipment or other existing distribution apparatus. Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and service proprietary and competitor generator components to include breakers, shutdown switches, wiring harnesses, alternators, and battery systems.
•Deliver best-in-class service through demonstrating a mastery in technical knowledge of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, electrical control maintenance standards, low/medium/high voltage and arc resistant theory, and on-site field estimation.
•Offer accurate resolutions and maintenance education for clients through successful technical support in intense, high-level risk or security environments with little to no supervision, as a singular representation of Point Eight Power and its service capabilities.
•Exude leadership in mentoring and training for junior-level service personnel, under the supervision of the Field Service Manager, Field Retrofit Specialist.
•Ensure safety of personnel and equipment by providing on-call emergency services and maintaining communication with internal departments, or through collaborative support of other technicians in the field.
•Promote cost reductions, drive accurate maintenance and service estimations, and increase part sales by consulting with other senior Field Service Technicians, Technical Assistants, and other related team members.
Qualifications
Education/Certifications
•High School Diploma/GED, required.
•Associates in Electrical Engineering or a Technical School Diploma in Industrial Electrical or Technician Maintenance, preferred.
•EGSA Certification, preferred.
Experience
•7 years of experience in installation, testing, reliability, or maintenance of governors, generators, regulators, or switch gear, required.
•5 years of experience in power generation, utilities, oil/gas, marine or energy industries, required.
•Service experience in electrical controls, required.
•Engineering or PLC programming experience, required.

•Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
•Engineering Design — Knowledge of software and hardware technology for the custom design activity for PLC’s ( Allen-Bradley, Quantum, Premium, etc.) hot standby systems as well as Relay and Relay based programming for undervoltage and protection using ( Basler, Multilin, Sepam, Zelio, Woodward, etc.), In addition, communication protocol using Modbus, Ethernet or Fiber Optic.
•Electronic Troubleshooting — Knowledge of advanced electric principles.
•Equipment Maintenance — Knowledge of Point Eight Power products and equipment.
•Technical Services — Extensive knowledge of service standards for products.
•Mechanical/Electrical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include: Multimeter, Wrenches, Drivers, Drills, Wiring Tools, and Soldering Iron.
•Safety Compliance — Provide safety standards for product use.
•Verbal & Written Communication Skills — This position requires advanced skills. This includes the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
•Math Skills — This position requires intermediate skills (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area, etc.)
•Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite; knowledge of devices related to electronics such as GE, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Woodward.
Additional Requirements
•Valid driver’s license and clear motor vehicle record within the past 7 years, required.
•TWIC and Passport, required
•Have all pertinent firefighting, scaffolding, first aid and CPR certification.
•Must be willing and able to travel to locations outside of the United States
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Physical Requirement: Demanding. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Employee must be at to sit, climb or balance, hear, use hands, taste/smell, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions: Conditions vary per work site: can be high heat, high humidity, and exposure to electrical shock and mechanical parts, exposure to radiation, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals with fumes and/or airborne particles.
