Ohio's Electric Cooperatives is in search of an IT Systems Engineer to securely install, configure, operate, maintain, and monitor IT hardware and software systems and related infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Securely installs, configures, operates, and maintains information technology systems, including on-premise and cloud based systems such as office automation systems, IT server systems, and network systems and infrastructure.
•Monitors information technology systems and infrastructure to ensure high levels of cyber-security, systems availability, and performance.
•Follows physical and cyber-security practices for information systems in accordance with company policies and good business practices.
•Supports service providers and consultants to implement, maintain, or expand business systems.
•Creates and maintains systems documentation.
•Supports end-user access and operation of enterprise software applications and systems.
•Supports end-users by troubleshooting and solving hardware and software problems. Responds to helpdesk requests.
•Researches and recommends new systems and technologies.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience over and above the experience described below may be substituted for part of the educational requirement.
Licenses and Certifications: None
Experience:
•Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Information Technology field. Education over and above the education requirement described above may be substituted for part of the experience requirement.
•Experience administering and maintaining Windows and Linux servers and Windows desktops is required.
•Experience administering and maintaining virtualized servers.
•Understanding with firewalls, switches, and security concepts.
Abilities & Skills Required:
•Must have good project management skills.
•Must be able to work independently or collaboratively.
•Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk; sit; work with hands and fingers; push, pull, reach, and lift objects; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Must have close visual acuity to analyze data, perform inspections and view computer monitors.
Work Environment
Primarily in an office environment. Occasional day travel to facilities outside Columbus, primarily within state. Occasional work outside normal business hours will be necessary on a rotating basis with other department personnel using a “24 hour on-call" schedule. Must possess a valid driver's license.
