Job Summary

Collaborate with a team to support software users and systems, manage and nurture relationships with vendors and user groups, and address software user needs through testing and troubleshooting. You will communicate effectively with software vendors and developers while demonstrating strong technical skills in system design and support. Ideal candidates will have experience with SAP, GIS, computer-aided design (CAD) software, SaaS solutions, Windows, information systems, and electric distribution design.

Essential Functions

Provide technical support to users for supported systems/software.

Work closely with IT (GIS, SAP, EAI, etc.) to test, develop, and deploy software updates and interface functionality between systems.

Coordination in an agile method with other groups such as Infrastructure, DBAs and third-party vendors to implement new, changed or upgraded software.

Develop and execute test scripts and perform regression testing for new software releases and data updates.

Work closely with Engineering and Distribution Designers to ensure distribution construction is designed in compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), city and county ordinances and CenterPoint Energy standards.

Serves as the subject matter expert and assist in training others.

Coach a team of Power Users in the functionality of supported software.

Evaluate issues in distribution design project using troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Write technical documents for formal training and as well as Tip & Tricks job aids.

Participate in an after-hours software and data update deployments.

Participate in Disaster Recovery drills as needed.

Facilitate communication between stakeholders from different departments by organizing meetings and workshops as needed.

Education Description

Experience with Distribution Design Studio (DDS) is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, technology, or construction science preferred. 5 years of Electric Utility Design Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

Experience

Requires 3-5 years electric utility or software support experience.
