Overview
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Bookkeeper is responsible for the full cycle of accounting functions, including maintaining accurate financial records, managing A/P and A/R, and ensuring full compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency with accounting systems, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate is highly organized and meticulous, with experience in timely and accurate accounting functions in support of the company’s operations.
Responsibilities
•Maintain and reconcile G/L accounts, including bank and credit accounts
•Manage and monitor Accounts Receivables and Payables
•Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all transactions
•Prepare month- and year-end financial statements and support annual accounting audits
•Track, record, and process governmental filings (i.e. GST/HST, CRA, WSIB, etc.)
•Maintain accurate accounting records for capital assets and depreciation
•Perform journal entries and adjustments to ensure accurate month- and year-end closings
•Oversee accounting procedures and suggest improvements where needed
•Provide accounting support to Operations as required, including financial analysis
•(Payroll is handled by an external provider)
Skills
•Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or related field
•3+ years experience as a Bookkeeper
•Strong understanding of accounting principles and concepts
•Knowledge of governmental filings and remittances
•Proficiency in Excel and MS Office, and familiarity with ERP systems
•High level of accuracy and attention to detail
•Strong organizational and time-management skills
•Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
•Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion
•Excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills
•Experience in industrial or manufacturing sectors is an asset
