THIS IS A 40HOUR WORK WEEK, BUT OCCASIONAL OVERTIME MAY BE REQUIRED.
Job Purpose:
Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies, keeping records.
Responsibilities - Diesel Service Technician
•Maintain company owned trucks- this can include cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, diagnosis, and removal/replacement of parts and attachments
•Installation with the help of proper manuals, report writing, disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation and reconditioning
•Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment
•Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines, clutches, and components
•Install injectors, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
•Read job order, observe, and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures
•Examine protective guards, loose bolts, frames, lights, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments as needed
•Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications
•Follow any other instructions and perform any other duties requested by the supervisor
•Continue to learn additional mechanical duties such as diagnosis and internal engine and transmission repairs on new vehicles
•Perform standard vehicle maintenance, standard component inspections, and repairs
•Perform preventive maintenance
•Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
•Identify the root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
•Replace defective components
•Perform facility maintenance duties
•Interact with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once the problem is identified
•Document repair costs per truck
•Work in accordance with all federal and company compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
•Perform inspections on company-owned equipment
•Perform brake inspections and repairs (air brakes)
•Repair air conditioning systems as needed
•Charge parts to each truck via required documentation procedure
•Read, troubleshoot, and repair electronic diesel engines
•Read and understand equipment electrical circuits and diagrams
•Perform other duties as required to support operations
Qualifications/Requirements - Diesel Service Technician
•2 years' experience as a Diesel Tech/Lead in a truck service facility
•Valid driver's license and good driving record
•Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and be a current resident.
•Must pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, and drug
